We're off to Nashua NH in mid-September for a weekend of fellowship, singing, vocal education, barbershop singing and some listening too. Sweet Adelines Region 1 organizes these wonderful opportunities for us to improve our singing, and our barbershop performances. We'll hear champion quartets, choruses and attend classes taught by international faculty in all aspects of barbershop! The weekend will be a lot of fun. Guests can attend by paying a modest fee. The Valley Chords have received a grant from the Choral Arts Foundation of the Upper Valley to organize a workshop for women who want to sing a capella and to improve their skills.
We will offer a half day of vocal training for women of all ages with emphasis on small group blend and optimal vocal production. This event would be hosted by the members and open to all females in the Upper Valley region.
Our goal is to introduce the unique barbershop style to a larger audience of women vocalists by sessions with an experienced vocal coach. We hope to encourage participation in this unique vocal style and share the exemplary education that is offered through coaches in the Sweet Adeline International (SAI) organization.
This will be 1-5 PM on Saturday 16 Oct 2010 at the Bugbee Senior Center in White River Junction.

In the two months before Christmas we invite singers to join us for the holidays to learn new and familiar songs and carols and then perform with us at nursing homes and other holiday venues leading up to our end of the year potluck. After Christmas we hope singers will decide to join Sweet Adenlines and sing with us throughout the year. Our preparations for the Regional Competition held in May each year begin early and intensify after the holidays. Participating in the competition each year with choruses from all New England and eastern Canada is a lot of fun and also helps us improve our singing and performance skills each year.
